Refund Policy

1. Payment Processing

Sentino subscriptions can be purchased through multiple channels:

  • Web: Payments are processed by Polar.sh, who acts as the authorised reseller and merchant of record for the Service. Sentino is the supplier of the Service; Polar is the seller in the transaction and is responsible for billing, tax collection (including VAT/sales tax where applicable), and processing refunds. By purchasing via Polar, you also agree to Polar's Checkout Buyer Terms.
  • iOS: Payments are processed through the Apple App Store, subject to Apple's Terms and Conditions.
  • Android: Payments are processed through Google Play, subject to Google Play's Terms of Service.

The refund process depends on how you purchased your subscription. See sections below for details specific to each payment channel.

2. Free Trial

Monthly plans come with a 3-day free trial and yearly plans come with a 7-day free trial. During the trial period, you have full access to all premium features. You can cancel at any time during the trial and you will not be charged.

We recommend trying our free tier first to ensure Sentino meets your needs before starting a trial or subscription.

3. Subscription Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time. To ensure your cancellation is processed before the next billing cycle, please cancel at least 48 hours before the end of your current billing period.

When you cancel:

  • You will continue to have access to premium features until the end of your current billing period
  • Your subscription will not renew at the end of the period
  • You will be downgraded to the free tier after your subscription expires
  • Your dictionary and data will be preserved
  • Outside of the statutory and discretionary refund windows described below, refunds are not provided for unused portions of subscription periods

When you initiate cancellation from within the app, you may be presented with alternative options — such as a one-time retention discount — before your cancellation is finalized. Choosing an alternative is entirely optional; you can always proceed with the cancellation.

4. Refund Policy (Web / Polar)

EU, EEA & UK consumers — statutory right of withdrawal: If you are a consumer based in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, applicable consumer law gives you the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of the transaction and receive a full refund of the charges paid. This right is not discretionary and applies regardless of whether you have used the Service, unless you have given express prior consent and acknowledgement at checkout to begin immediate performance and to lose your right of withdrawal in accordance with Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive (or the equivalent provision under UK law). To exercise this right, contact us at the support email below within the 14-day window.

Discretionary global refund window: In addition to the statutory right above, and regardless of your jurisdiction, you may request a refund within 14 daysfrom the date your subscription was last renewed. Sentino issues discretionary refunds through Polar's order tools; requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Polar's independent discretion:As merchant of record, Polar reserves the right to issue a refund within 60 days of purchase at its own discretion — for example, to prevent or resolve a chargeback — consistent with Polar's Checkout Buyer Terms.

Important: Discretionary refund requests made more than 60 days after the transaction date will not be processed. This 60-day cap does not limit any statutory rights you may have.

5. Refund Eligibility

Refunds may be considered under the following circumstances:

  • Within 14 days of payment: If you are not satisfied with the service after your trial converts to a paid subscription, you may request a refund within 14 days of the charge.
  • Technical issues: If you experience significant technical problems that prevent you from using the service and we are unable to resolve them.
  • Accidental charges: If you were charged accidentally (e.g., forgot to cancel during trial or before renewal).

6. Non-Refundable Situations

Subject to your statutory rights as a consumer (see section 4), discretionary refunds are generally not provided for:

  • Requests made more than 14 days after the most recent payment
  • Requests made more than 60 days after any transaction
  • Unused portions of subscription periods (no prorated refunds)
  • Change of mind after extended use of the service

Note: forgetting to cancel before a renewal does not by itself disqualify you from a refund — accidental renewal charges remain eligible under section 5 if reported within 14 days.

7. Plan Changes & Discounted Purchases

Switching between Monthly and Yearly plans: when you switch plans from the pricing page, the change is processed by Polar. Any prorated charges, account credits, or partial refunds resulting from the switch are calculated and issued by Polar according to its standard rules. Sentino does not compute proration directly.

Coupons and promotional discounts: if you applied a coupon or promotional code at checkout, any refund will be calculated against the amount you actually paid (the discounted total), not the list price of the plan.

8. How to Request a Refund (Web / Polar)

For web purchases, you have two options:

  • Via your Polar billing portal:Sign in to Sentino, open your account page, and click “Manage billing.” You will be redirected to Polar's self-service portal where you can view invoices, update your payment method, and request a refund.
  • Via Sentino: Contact us at support@sentino.app with your account email address, the reason for your refund request, and any relevant transaction details. We will route eligible requests to Polar on your behalf.

We aim to respond to all refund requests within 2-3 business days.

9. Refunds for App Store & Google Play Purchases

If you purchased your subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, refunds are managed by Apple or Google respectively, not by Sentino or Polar.

Refund eligibility and processing for app store purchases are subject to Apple's and Google's respective refund policies. Sentino cannot process refunds for purchases made through these stores. If you need assistance, contact us at support@sentino.app and we will do our best to help.

10. Refund Processing (Web / Polar)

Once a web refund is approved:

  • Sentino issues the refund through Polar's order tools; Polar credits your original payment method
  • The refund includes any VAT or sales tax that Polar collected at the time of purchase
  • Processing time is typically 5-10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer
  • For subscriptions, refunding a payment does not by itself end your access — we will also cancel your subscription so you are not billed again
  • Your premium access will be revoked once the refund is processed

11. Annual Subscriptions

For annual subscriptions:

  • The same 14-day statutory and discretionary refund windows described in section 4 apply from the date of payment
  • Outside those windows, discretionary refund requests are evaluated by Polar on a case-by-case basis
  • Partial or prorated refunds outside the statutory window are not guaranteed and are at Polar's discretion as merchant of record

12. Billing Disputes & Chargebacks

For web purchases, Polar is the seller of record and handles all billing disputes. If you believe a charge is incorrect, please email support@sentino.app or use the “Manage billing” link on your account page to access your Polar billing portal beforeinitiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. In most cases we can resolve the issue faster and without involving your card network. Chargebacks initiated without first contacting support may be defended by Polar with transaction evidence as set out in Polar's Checkout Buyer Terms.

13. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this refund policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Existing subscriptions will be honored under the policy in effect at the time of purchase.
